ChatGPT Enterprise: The Bar Keeps Getting Higher & Higher
OpenAI's biggest announcement since ChatGPT ups the stakes for AI startups

Since ChatGPT's launch just nine months ago, the tool has been used by over 80% (!!!) of Fortune 500 companies. However, firm-wide enterprises adoption was somewhat slow due to data privacy concerns and complexity around custom deployments.
Today, OpenAI finally announced a highly anticipated enterprise version of its flagship ChatGPT product that solves both of those issues. It’s a HUGE upgrade:
More private and secure:
Data not shared for training OpenAI models
Data encryption at rest / in-transit + SOC2 compliance
More powerful and performant:
No usage caps + 32k token context window (4x ChatGPT)
2x higher-speed performance vs ChatGPT
Unlimited access to Code Interpreter (advanced data analysis)
Customizable:
Share custom common workflows / chat templates across the organization
Fine-tuning options for more domain-specific use cases
As if this wasn’t enough, OpenAI also announced some upcoming new features to be released in the coming weeks / months (these will kill so many recent startups…):
Connect your own company data to extend ChatGPT’s knowledge base
Power tools - a more advanced version of Code Interpreter + web-browsing
Function-specific tools - tools for specific roles, such as data analysts, marketers, customer support and more
This further strengthens my view that most companies will choose to build tools in-house instead of licensing/buying from AI startups. The impact is too critical and the technical complexity is more and more abstracted away - OpenAI is making it easier and easier for companies to spin up their own internal tools.
AI startups must tread carefully and choose the right surface area to compete in. The bar keeps getting higher and higher.
